Official Department Processing Rules
Go Confess is for your own harmless, ridiculous, low-stakes failures.
Keep it silly. Keep it harmless. Keep other people's private lives out of it.
Participation is for adults 18+.
File your own paperwork
Confess something you did.
Go Confess is not for:
- callouts or revenge posts;
- gossip about somebody else's behavior;
- accusations or serious allegations;
- targeted messages or attacks;
- attempts to put another person on trial.
Your own minor failure.
Not somebody else's.
Too real for this Department
Do not post content involving:
- credible threats, serious violence, abuse, stalking, exploitation, or dangerous wrongdoing;
- encouragement, instructions, or meaningful assistance for serious illegal activity;
- suicide or serious self-harm encouragement, planning, or imminent danger;
- explicit sexual content, sexual exploitation, or anything sexual involving minors;
- hate, dehumanization, severe targeted harassment, or abusive degradation;
- private or sensitive information such as home addresses, private contact details, financial or health information, credentials, or precise private locations;
- materially harmful serious allegations about an identifiable private person;
- phishing, scams, deceptive solicitation, malicious promotion, malware, or repetitive spam.
Profanity, sarcasm, dark humor, absurdity, exaggeration, and harmless bad judgment are not violations simply because the wording sounds dramatic.
Context matters.
Public usernames
Do not use a username that contains prohibited sexual content, hateful or threatening content, severe targeted harassment, private personal information, scams, or a clearly deceptive or harmful impersonation.
Do not present yourself as Go Confess staff or an official Department account unless you are one.
Judicial conduct
Judge the crime. Not the offender.
The Department permits side-eye.
It does not permit jury tampering.
Do not:
- vote on your own case;
- create or use multiple accounts to manipulate judgments, penance votes, reports, or other community activity;
- automate participation;
- coordinate judgments;
- manipulate verdicts;
- use reports or penance suggestions to target or harass somebody.
One account. One judgment per case.
Even the Internet has standards.
Penance suggestions
Penance may be absurd.
It may be inconvenient, expensive, awkward, embarrassing, impractical, or wildly disproportionate to the offense.
It may not encourage or require:
- illegal activity;
- violence or dangerous acts;
- self-harm;
- sexual exploitation;
- serious degradation;
- hate or discrimination;
- credible threats;
- stalking or serious harassment;
- repeated unwanted contact;
- coercion;
- doxxing or private information;
- unsafe involvement of minors;
- scams or comparable abuse.
The standard is:
Safe from real harm. Not safe from discomfort.
Community review
Penance suggestions may receive both upvotes and downvotes.
Enough negative community review may push a suggestion down or collapse it from ordinary view.
That is not the same as deletion, and it does not automatically punish the person who posted it.
Moderation
Before publication, confessions are checked for safety and whether they belong on Go Confess.
Content that crosses these Guidelines may be blocked from publication.
Published content may also be reported and reviewed by staff.
Go Confess may pause, restore, remove, or restrict content or accounts when necessary for safety, privacy, abuse prevention, product integrity, or legal obligations.
Reports & appeals
Report content when it crosses these rules.
Reports are reviewed. Reporting something does not guarantee that it will be removed.
Where appropriate, enforcement decisions may be appealed at: support@goconfess.lol
Actual emergencies
Go Confess is not an emergency, crisis, medical, legal, or therapeutic service.
If someone may be in immediate danger, contact appropriate local emergency or crisis support.
The Department is dramatically underqualified for those matters.
