About Go Confess
Go Confess is The Internet's Department of Minor Moral Failures.
It exists to process the things that are not serious enough for therapy, court, or a family meeting — but are absolutely serious enough for twelve strangers on the Internet to have opinions about.
Welcome. There appears to be paperwork.
Go Confess is built around brief, harmless everyday failures and deliberately treats them with wildly disproportionate administrative seriousness.
1. Confess
State your offense.
Keep it brief. Keep it harmless. Keep your childhood out of this.
Your confession becomes an official case file and enters the public record.
Filing is free. Poor judgment remains widely available.
2. Face the Internet
Your case is assigned to people with no qualifications whatsoever except access to the Internet.
They have two options:
HOW THE JURY WORKS
Every confession gets five days before the Internet.
Twelve strangers are required to form a jury. But the Department doesn't close a case just because twelve people have opinions. Voting remains open until the deadline.
Then the Department delivers its verdict.
More FORGIVE votes? FORGIVEN.
More PENANCE votes? SENTENCED.
A tie? CASE DISMISSED.
Fewer than twelve judgments? TOO MINOR TO PROSECUTE.
3. Receive your verdict
The Internet may forgive you.
Or sentence you.
If the jury splits perfectly down the middle, the Department dismisses the case because even this institution has procedural standards.
4. If sentenced, penance follows
The Department issues a Penance Order.
The Internet may suggest what you deserve. The Department handles the final paperwork.
You can accept your penance and, allegedly, work on it.
Or there is another option.
After sentencing, you may choose to BRIBE THE INTERNET and avoid serving your Penance Order.
It is optional.
It does not erase your confession.
It does not reverse your sentence.
It does not make the Internet forget what you did.
It simply records the entirely respectable fact that you paid to avoid consequences.
Come guilty. Leave forgiven, sentenced, or slightly poorer.
Your own minor failure.
Not somebody else's.
This Department is dramatically underqualified for those matters.
Judge the crime. Not the offender.
The Department permits side-eye.
It permits sarcasm.
It permits extremely unnecessary opinions.
It does not exist to humiliate people.
The point is not to prove that you're a bad person.
The point is that everybody has done something petty, lazy, awkward, selfish, avoidant, or completely indefensible for no good reason.
Here, yours just gets a case number.
Because minor guilt is ridiculous.
We carry around tiny things that are too stupid to tell a therapist, too embarrassing to admit in the group chat, and somehow important enough to replay while brushing our teeth three days later.
You do not need to keep conducting an internal investigation.
File the case.
Let the Internet deal with it.
Not for self-improvement.
Not for redemption.
Not because the Internet is remotely qualified to decide anything.
Sometimes you just want to say:
“Fine. I did it.”
Sometimes twelve strangers say FORGIVE.
Sometimes they sentence you.
Frankly, you probably had it coming.
Go Confess is entertainment.
The Department is fictional.
The judgment is real only in the deeply concerning sense that actual Internet users provided it.
Please behave accordingly.
Come guilty. Leave forgiven, sentenced, or slightly poorer.
